Kia orana! My name is Keira and I am of Cook Island and Samoan descent. I was born in England, then when I was four moved to Auckland New Zealand where I grew up for the next 14 years. In 2023, I moved to Dunedin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Anatomy (2025).
Now in 2026, I am a PGDipSci Anatomy student working under both Anna Gosling and Megan Leask. My project involves exploring how genetic variation influences Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in Māori and Pacific women in Aotearoa, with the focus of understanding PCOS biology in these understudied communities. My goal for this project is to address a major gap in reproductive genetics by focusing on populations that have been largely overlooked in past research. Thus, striving to build knowledge that supports better, more equitable health outcomes for Indigenous women of Aotearoa.
In my free time I love to play sports like netball and touch rugby, spending time with my friends, facetiming my dog and family and a “little bit” of binge-watching Netflix.
